We picked out appliances yesterday. I know, I am not a cook :0) But, they look real nice and we're not much more expensive than what we have now. I don't need a $6000 refrigerator or $10,000 oven!!
These pictures are the Hearth Room (basically the sun/family room off the kitchen). We plan to have a small TV on the wall above the fireplace, but the big TVs will be in the basement...one on the wall in the living room and the other in the back rec room for the kids video games, etc.
We walked through the house yesterday and it was so great to be able to see where all of the rooms will be. It was also nice to look out the windows and see trees - lots of trees. They are bare now, but the spring, summer and fall should be just beautiful. Anyway, here are the latest pictures.
Progress photos....we are in the framing stage!! The top photo is the hearth room and basement bar (below)...this is in the rear of the house. The other three photos are the front view of the house so far.
Well, part of it.......we are getting a better idea of what our future yard will look like. They cleared some of the brush/weeds from the woods that line our property. This is the view of the yard looking to the left.
Well, I chose the pattern for our basement bar countertop and for the bench in the laundry room. The darker one is the bar - the cabinets and wood portion of the bar will be oak (to match our pool table and current kitchen table which will become the card table for the basement when we move).
The foundation is poured and has been waterproofed. I believe they are set to start framing next week. We do have an issue....our backyard is very low even with the 80+ loads of dirt that have already been dumped on the lot. We need a creative retaining wall or deck system, but I am sure they will figure something out.
Anyway, here are some photos from Friday, October 12.
I meet with the cabinet designer next Wednesday to design the layout of the kitchen cabinets, but the above picture is an example of the maple cabinets and color we have chosen.
We have chosen the front door....very simple. It will be stained a very dark brown to match the exterior trim color we have chosen. The interior of the door will be stained to match our interior trim which is lighter.
We are finally ready to build our house. We bought the lot over 2 years ago and we finally are in a position to build our dream home. YAY! Yesterday morning, we went and staked the position of the house on the land and the builders cleared the weeds where our home will eventually be. See pictures. SO, now we have a big dirt spot and we are excited about this :0) They hope to start digging the hole next week. We'll keep you updated!
